BumpTop with multi-touch

Here’s a new video showing BumpTop using a multi-touch screen under Windows 7. The march towards ‘tactile computing’ continues.

I remain unconvinced that this is really what people want to do, for the simple reason that holding your hand/arm extended for lengthy periods like this cannot really be comfortable.

My other concern – admittedly more esoteric – is that there’s a cognitive disconnect between the notion of manipulating virtual objects with one’s hands through touch and not actually feeling the resistance/friction/weight of the objects. This, I think, will make for a very uncomfortable experience over time, similar to ‘listening fatigue’ with bad headphones or wearing eyeglasses that are too weak.
